Is it not fair to reward an early response?

An early response should be rewarded but not punished. ! The way South Africa detected and reported (all in about a fortnight) promptly to the WHO needs immense appreciation.Such a swift reporting was not experienced in the beginning when the epidemic first broke out .The world had to pay a heavy price for the delay !

A multi-fold approach is a better strategy in my opinion:

1.Though it sounds rational to impose ban on flights from South Africa ( an act that affects its economy deeply) as a preventive measure to contain the spread, it is equally important to reward the nation that responded so swiftly and acting as a saviour of global population at large.

2.Economic aid to compensate for the loss resulting in the ban is to be extended by a global solidarity fund in all such deserving cases. Otherwise,no nation in future would venture to let the information come out in the event of an assessment of this type.

3.It is pathetic to note that on a continental scale, just about 7% of the people in Africa are totally vaccinated and as such, help on a Herculean scale must be extended to the nation as a gesture of reward and responsibility too in the form of vaccinations, medical kits and even granting permission for manufacturing facilities for vaccines there.

4.Also with very little known about the correlations between clinical and epidemiological findings (on the various facets such as transmissibility, lethality etc) which establish the probability of a surge or a retreat in infection, nations need to gear up the ammunition for waging a war against the pandemic by improving the overall health infrastructure and concentrate more on innovative diagnostics and therapeutics apart from taking preventive measures

5.Hefty fines must be imposed for violation of principles of social vaccine by all the nations.
